Engineering Ministries International – Nicaragua

Sam Carrara and his family have been called to serve in Nicaragua with Engineering Ministries International (eMi).

eMi is a non-profit Christian development organization made up of architects, engineers, and design professionals who utilize their skills to help children and families around the world step out of poverty, and into a world of hope.

eMi has been at work around the globe for more than 30 years designing and managing the construction of over one thousand projects including orphanages, schools, seminaries, hospitals, camps, and other vital structures for our ministry partners. eMi has also conducted disaster response projects throughout the world’s hardest hit areas, including the most recent earthquake in Nepal.  These ventures help to meet the material and spiritual needs of the poorest people on Earth. Some of our worldwide partners include Samaritan’s Purse, the African Children’s Choir, Young Life, Mission Aviation Fellowship, and many, many more.

Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. The years of civil war and government corruption have left nearly half of the population below the poverty line and without sufficient employment, infrastructure, health care, and education. As an engineer for eMi, Sam will have the opportunity to design and construct buildings that will be used to meet both the spiritual and material needs of the people in the region. After getting the family settled, Melissa will have the ability to serve as a mentor for eMi interns and develop relationships within the local community.
